Sherline 3 Axis CNC Mill

This page is dedicated to the Sherline Model XXXX. I had a hard time finding information on the internet about bringing this mill up-to-speed and out of DOS with the latest CNC controllers. Fortunately, it can be done with nothing more than an old computer with a parallel port.

  • Hardwood- 10“/min.

Drive Mechanism

  • Stepper Motors @ 200steps/rev driving a lead screw with pitch of 10rev/in. (2000 steps/in)
  • Maximum speed 15”/min on X-Y.
  • Acceleration 15“/min.
  • Maximum speed on 10”/min Z, 5“/min acceleration.
  • Must enable sherline 1/2 step mode on Mach 3.
  • To interface with spindle relay, map pin to port under “Output” signals tab, under Output #1. Make sure Spindle setup is correct.
