Published on Jul 27, 2014
The Social Pool Work of Art Looking out over the stark pool into the desert. Sometime in June I came across an article about a hidden pool in the Mojave Desert. I have been lusting for an adventure for some time, so the thought of a secret and secluded pool in the middle of the desert instantly caught my attention. The place is known as social [...] Read more
Backpacking with Amazon's Kindle

The Kindle 3G with Waterproof Bag Overview The Amazon Kindle Keyboard 3G is a lightweight E-Reader linked to the popular online publisher Amazon.com. One may think that an e-reader has no place in the outdoors, yet for my 11 month hike, it was an essential piece of gear. Even for the ultra-light hiker/trekker, the Kindle has a place in the pack. Occupy AT- I'm Such an Awesome Protester
Published on Nov 7, 2011
I'm such an awesome protester, it's not even funny, but the rest of this story is absolutely hilarious. The AT runs right through Hanover, NH. Those were the words that ran through my head as the biting cold woke me up from a deep sleep. The clouds had lifted and the temperature quickly dropped about 10 degrees. It's time to get some new gear! After [...] Read more
Summiting Katahdin- The "Side Hike" of the Year
Published on Oct 27, 2011
Every day on the trail, multiple times a day, I hear the same question: What are you going to do when Baxter closes? My response has always been, "We'll see." The truth is, Baxter never really closes, it just becomes restricted. In any case, when I got to Connecticut where I had left my truck, I decided to take a trip up to Maine to do some [...] Read more
Massachusetts Hospitality
Published on Oct 25, 2011
Most people don't think of Massachusetts as an incredibly hospitable place. Boston...yankees....I don't even know what the proper denomyn is...it's Masshole right? All FALSE. Massachusites (had to look it up) have institutionalized hospitality. Here's the story of my trek through Mass: Night 1: I stumble into Upper Goose Pond Cabin after dark on [...] Read more
